Nathan's Union Qualifications

Nathan Ugoretz is the Secretary-Treasurer of the Wisconsin Education Association Council. He is a high school social studies teacher, a 20-year educator, and proud member of the Port Washington-Saukville Education Association.

Prior to his election to the role of Secretary-Treasurer, Nathan served on the WEAC Board as a member of the budget and finance committee and PAC committee. At the regional level, he served as WEAC Region 3 president, vice president, legislative and PAC chair, and member of the organizing committee. Nathan has also facilitated training at the WEAC Summer Leadership Academy to help local leaders organize to build membership.

Within the Port Washington-Saukville Education Association (PWSEA), Nathan served as the president, vice president, chief negotiator, and advocacy and grievance chair. Under his leadership, his local has won victories such as the implementation of a salary schedule that allows movement for all employees, no cuts to union member positions, and a return to a high-quality health insurance plan after the district imposed an inferior plan. This has led to strong and stable membership numbers within PWSEA.

Nathan earned his bachelor’s degree in broadfield social studies from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and his master’s degree in history from Cardinal Stritch University. His social studies background and extensive travels around the world have sharpened his dedication to addressing inequity and he is proud to stand with Wisconsin educators who are committed to this work.
